Where has Kelly been ? You might be wondering. What has she been doing ? Well, nothing terribly exciting. And I am not ready to share what I have been feverishly working on. In a week or two. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile. The first Saturday in February I journeyed over to the clothing boutique in historic Weston, MO for a mini trunk show of heart related artwork. What to wear was the BIG question. I opened the door to my closet to peruse my vintage collection. I spied this silk number given to me by my friend Gloria. In my memory , she told me that it belonged to her mother, Loretta. I hadn't worn it yet but it seemed the perfect answer to my question of attire. Of course I would wear my Acme cowboy boots with hearts appliqued on them . The little jacket to this ensemble would not do to wear out in public since the silk was starting to shred a bit . It wasn't repairable. But the sleeveless dress was still in sturdy condition. A denim jacket would do to wear over the dress. I thought of Loretta all day whilst wearing her frock.
When I told my friend, Gloria , that I had worn her mother's dress , she said that the dress had been rescued by her mom at an antique auction. Loretta had bought a trunk full of vintage clothing many decades ago. This dress had been rescued and worn by Gloria a time or two and then it had come to reside in a closet. forgotten. Loretta's birthday is next week and I am going to send her this image. I hope she remembers the auction, the dress, and is pleased that I am wearing the frock she saved.

This is a close-up of a beaded heart brooch. I have no idea now many of them I have beaded through the years. The heart image makes a nice present for someone you care about year round. A story to share with you about a particular beaded heart brooch now. One of my beaded heart brooches made it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Last year, a lady carried it with her clear to the tippy top. I have a photo of her holding the beaded heart at the summit. This photo inspires me when I am feeling particularly like I can't make it through something. If this lady can make it to the top of the mountain, well then I can do ( fill in the blank ). And if I am feeling overwhelmed by a project, I don one of these brooches and it seems to help. If you would like one of these sparkly heart brooches for yourself or a loved one, you can find them at Missouri Bluffs in Weston, MO. (816-640-2770) And very soon you will be able to purchase them online from a store via my website. Stay tuned .

This heart and hand milagro ( a tangible prayer ) was fabricated by hand by Rhett. It is six inches long and three inches wide. Made of steel that has been antiqued. The heart with embossed word love is a separate piece that has been soldered to the fingers. There is a grommet in the heart which allows you to thread a ribbon through or hang it on a nail. His milagros remind me of the old ones I see in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rhett's artwork can also be found at Missouri Bluffs clothing boutique.
In a few days I hope to be able to share with you my updated website and a link to our online store. Please stay tuned.
